Erich Raederscheidt’s Medal Group

The following information was obtained from Auktionshaus Plückbaum (https://www.plueckbaum.de/index.html)

Extensive and excellently documented estate of Erich Raederscheidt (1918 – 2004), press officer in the Office of the Federal President under Theodor Heuss, Heinrich Lübke and Gustav Heinemann. (There is the possibility that he did not serve under President Gustav Heinemann, more research is needed.)

Erich Raederscheidt worked as a press officer in the Office of the Federal President during the 1950s and 1960s. In this role, he accompanied Federal Presidents Theodor Heuss, Heinrich Lübke and Gustav Heinemann on numerous state visits and trips abroad. On these occasions, Raederscheidt was honored with numerous decorations over the years.

Iconic moments are immortalized with these decorations, such as Theodor Heuss’ state visit to the King of the Hellenes Paul I in May 1956, which was the first ever foreign state visit by a German Federal President.

The collection on offer includes not only the decorations themselves awarded in the period from 1955 to 1969, but in numerous instances also the corresponding award certificates of the awarding states and almost without exception the acceptance authorizations of the German Federal President’s Office.
